Linzi Howarth
Linzi Howarth is our Blood Distribution and DNA Expert. Her BSc (hons) degree is in Biological Science. Her MSc degree is in the area of Criminal Investigation, with research undertaken in the field of DNA as evidence within the Criminal Justice System. She subsequently gained the Institute of Biology qualifications, C.BIOL and MI.Biol. Between 2005 and 2008 Linzi gained a LLB (Hons) senior status law degree from the University of Teesside. She has 3 years expeience in the Home Office Forensic Science Service, employed at the Wetherby Laboratory in the field of SGM+ and Low Copy Number DNA anaysis from 2000 to 2003. Since that time Linzi has worked for Formedecon Ltd of Durham, as a Forensic Biologist. She is involved in examining a range of casework items, mostly in offences against the person cases. Her areas of expertise include body fluids (i.e. blood, semen and saliva), trace materials and blood pattern analysis. She is also involved in statement writing and presenting evidence in Magistrates and Crown Courts when required. Linzi is also a registered forensic practitioner with the Council for the Registration of Forensic Practitioners.
