Paul Baker
Mr. Barker served for thiry years with Staffordshire Police Force. Twenty-four years of that time was spent in a vehicle orientated environment. Of those twenty-four years, twelve were spent in the Force Traffic Division, as both a patrol car driver and patrol motor cyclist. In this role his day to day work comprised of vehicle examinations of all road going vehicles.
In 1989 Paul joined the Force Stolen Vehicle Unit and assumed a specialist responsibility for the examination and identification of any vehicle within the Force area whose identity was suspected to be false. In 1991 he successfully completed an Auto crime course with the Metropolitan Police together with a course held at Thatcham Motor Insurance Repair Research Centre.
From his position with the Vehicle Unit he was called upon by not only Police personnel, within Force and Nationally, but also members of the public and DVLA to confirm the identity of suspect vehicles.
Mr. Baker has for many years been responsible for evidence files being put before both Crown Court and Magistrates and is accepted by those courts, without question, as an expert in the area of vehicle identification.
