Peter Franks is a highly respected expert in the field of firearms and ballistics. He is a recognised firearms instructor and after several years with Her Majesties Forces working in bases around the world, he was employed by police forces to supervise the development and training of firearms and associated tactics such as hostage situations.He has trained military and police units (around the world) in 'Hostage Rescue' tactics and techniques - ranging from CQB to sniper.
Mr. Franks has trained Police Sniper Units of various police forces and has developed much of the specialised equipment and ammunition used by these units.
He has conducted tests and trials on rifles and telescopic sights from around the world and written reports on firearms capabilities. He is able to give specialised advice on any aspect of firearms, ammunition or related topics.
Mr. Franks is also a qualified solicitor in his own right and is fully competent to give evidence at all levels of court.
Mr. Franks is fully qualified to comment on all aspects of Firearms - ranging from classification - to reconstruction of crime scenes - to comments on gun-shot injuries. He can also comment upon ammunition for a wide range of weapons. He can provide information relating to CS Irritant (gas) and CAPTOR spray as well as electronic Stun-Guns. He holds a registered Firearms Dealers Certificate (Devon and Cornwall Police). He is qualified to comment on police tactics and training in the use of firearms. He has also provided advice and evidence for Court Marshall's and War Crime Tribunals.
Mr. Franks is qualified with the Bar Vocational Council to provide courses (CPD) to barristers on the law relating to firearms and also courses on ballistics (We belive he is the only qualified solicitor to be able to do this in the UK).
