Dr. Philip Harrison PhD.

Dr. Philip Harrison holds a Bachelor of Technology Honours Degree in Applied Physics and He is a Doctor of Philosophy in the Faculty of Engineering Science ( Materials Engineering). Phil began his career joining the Forensic Science Service in 1973 and was a Scene and court going Reporting Officer for over 30 years in the Forensic Chemistry Section of the Wetherby Laboratory. He reported on over 500 cases involving fire investigation and was in charge of Fire Investigation and the Wetherby Laboratory for a number of years before retirement in January 2005.

Since Retiring, Phil has worked as a consultant Forensic Scientist and been involved in over 100 alleged arson cases and attended Court and given Evidence as an Expert Witness in a significant proportion of these. He lectures and facilitates on Fire Investigation Courses run jointly by the National Policing Improvement Agency (NPIA) and the Fire Service College at Moreton-In-Marsh. In addition he has also lectured on the subject to students at Teesside and Lincoln Universities.

Phil has attended scene as reporting officer capacity and attended Court for most of his thirty year career and has worked closely with the police and the Judicial System been involved in many types of major investigations. He has also written a number of technical papers on Forensic Science. Phil is involved in both in-service and police training, lecturing for a number of years on fire investigation to scene of crime officers at the Police Nation Training Centre, Harperly Hall, as well as been the Lead Fire Investigator for the two weeks Fire Investigation Course run jointly between Centrex and the Fire Service College at Moreton-in-Marsh and has ran an assessment Course for new fire investigators in the Forensic Science Service.
