Ray Broadstock
Mr. Broadstock has over fourty years experience in the comparison and indentification of ridge marks from hands, fingers toes and soles of the feet, he has examined crime scenes and property from such scenes. He has considerable experience in the chemical examination of siezed property and logical evaluations of how finger marks were left at scenes or on property.
Mr. Broadstock joined the Fingerprint Department of the Midland Criminal Record Office in May 1964. In June 1971 he qualified as a fingerprint expert and was added to the National Register of Fingerprint Experts. He was promoted to Deputy Section Leader in June 1980 followed by promotion to Section Leader in 1984, a post he held until he was promoted to Deputy Head of the Department in 1988. Following a detachment to the Home Office between July 1988 and March 1989, he took on the role of Acting Head of the Department until promoted to the position of Head of the Fingerprint Department in March 1990. He retired as Head of the West Midlands Police Fingerprint Department in April 1998. Since then he has worked as a Fingerprint Consultant, finally joining our team in 2005.
Mr. Broadstock is an active member of The Fingerprint Society which he joined in 1974 when it was established. Having joined as a Fellow of the Society, he subsequently served in the executive posts if Committee Member (1979), Chairman of the Society (1989 - 1995) and President of the Society (1996 - 2002). He continues as a Committee member representing the retired members of the Society.
