Mr. Rod McKinnon

Mr. Rod McKinnon began his career with West Mercia Police Force in 1969.  In May 1972 he transferred to the Traffic and Operations Department at West Mercia HQ.  He successfully completed an Accident Investigation Course in 1982 and from there joined the Colliosn Investigation Unit.  He remained there for 21 years until his retirement in January 2003. 

Rod was authorised by the Chief Constable to examine and weigh motor vehicles.  He was also authorised to use handheld and time and distance speed detection devices.  He has attended various courses concerning the examination of braking systems with Lucas Girling Plc and Automotive Products Plc (Lockheed/Borg and Deck).  In 1985 was awarded the Road Transport Industry Board certificate in this subject.

Rod had been instructed to advanced level on the examination of tyres with Michelin Tyres Plc and Goodyear Tyres Plc. 

Since 1986 has held level three and level four certificates in the calibration and installations of tachographs, including tachograph chart analysis.

Rod has attended Coroners, Crown and Magistrates Courts as an expert Witness in the field of Collision Investigation and Reconstruction.
